Have I Wearied Thee?

In Micah 6:3, we read, “O my people, what have I done unto thee? and wherein have I wearied thee? testify against me.”

The Israelites had become very wicked. They were worshipping false gods. God sent Micah to them to tell them of impending destruction. God had been patient with them, but they refused to repent and follow him.

In Micah 6, we see a courtroom scene. God asks the Israelites to testify against him. He wanted them to tell exactly what he had done that was terrible. He wanted to know what he had done to them to cause them to turn to false gods. He had brought them out of Egypt and blessed them tremendously. He had given them everything.

Yet, what had the false gods given them? They were nothing but idols made out of wood and stone. God had shown false gods to be powerless by the plagues in Egypt.

God wants to know if his laws are really that harsh and difficult. Some of the worship of false gods included killing children. It is hard to understand why someone would kill his children for a false god but not want to worship a loving God.

Are you wearied by following God? You should not be. God’s commands are not grievous. They are for our good. Study your Bible. Obey what it says. And if any of this is hard to understand, ask an adult to help you.
