10 Ways to Share Your Faith

As we joyfully approach this new year, many Christians seek to enhance their relationship with God and share the “good news” of His love with others. Evangelism is at the heart of the great commission, where Jesus commanded His followers, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen” (Matthew 28:19–20 NKJV). Below are ten biblical and practical ways to share your faith in the coming year, using principles rooted in the New Testament.

  1. Live as a Light in the World. One of the most powerful ways to share our faith is through the way we live. Jesus called His followers to be the light of the world. “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house” (Matthew 5:14–15). We must strive to live with integrity, kindness and love, reflecting Christ in all we do. Our actions often speak louder than our words, and a Christ-like life can inspire others to seek the God we serve.
  2. Share Your Story. Our personal stories of faith are unique and powerful tools. The apostle Paul frequently shared the story of his encounter with Jesus (Acts 22; 26) to demonstrate God’s grace and power. To Timothy, Paul wrote, “This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief” (1 Timothy 1:15). We must be willing to share how Christ has transformed our lives. A genuine, heartfelt testimony can connect with others and point them to Jesus.
  3. Use Social Media Wisely. In our digital age, social media is a platform with a global reach. The apostle Paul might have written his epistles differently if he had access to Facebook, Instagram or Twitter! Let us use our posts to share encouraging Scriptures, stories of faith and other such things that reflect godliness. “Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person” (Colossians 4:6, ESV). We must ensure our online interactions reflect God’s love and grace.
  4. Engage in Acts of Service. Jesus emphasized the importance of serving others, saying, “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” (Mark 10:45). Volunteering in our community, helping a neighbor in need or supporting a local school can demonstrate God’s love in action. Acts of service open the door to conversations about faith and provide tangible expressions of God’s care.
  5. Pray for Open Doors. Before we get to the Bible studies, we should pray for opportunities and guidance. Paul often asked for prayer to proclaim the Gospel boldly. “At the same time, pray also for us, that God may open to us a door for the word, to declare the mystery of Christ” (Colossians 4:3). Pray for wisdom, love, courage and compassion to go out seeking souls that may hear and obey the Gospel of Christ.
  6. Engage in Everyday Conversations. We do not need a formal setting to share our faith. Everyday conversations with friends, family or coworkers can lead to discussions about the Lord. Jesus Himself often engaged people in everyday situations—at wells, in homes and on the streets. “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear” (1 Peter 3:15 NKJV). We must be ready to share our hope and always approach others with kindness and humility.
  7. Invite Others to Worship or Bible Study. An invitation to a worship service or a Bible study can provide others with an opportunity to hear the Word of God and experience the beauty of Christian fellowship. Invite them to see the distinct nature of New Testament worship as described in the Bible. “Come and see” (John 1:46). We must be intentional with extending invitations. A loving, biblical Christian environment and the Word of God can have a profound impact on seekers.
  8. Offer Resources. Providing resources such as books, devotionals, tracts or even Bible verses can help others explore Christianity at their own pace. Paul emphasized the importance of Scripture. “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16 ESV). We should consider gifting a Bible or sharing links to sermons, podcasts or Christian blogs. There are numerous free resources at our disposal.
  9. Partner with Missionary Efforts. We can support local or international missions by giving financially, volunteering or praying. Paul often expressed gratitude for those who partnered with him in spreading the Gospel. “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine making request for you all with joy, for your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now” (Philippians 1:3–5 NKJV). Even if we cannot go to the mission field ourselves, our involvement can help others hear the good news of Jesus Christ.
  10. Use What You Have. There will always be individuals who have more exposure, reach and ability than we may have. Yet, God has blessed us to be who and where we are in this world and in the church. “But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased” (1 Corinthians 12:18). “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase” (1 Corinthians 3:6). We have some ability and some reach. We can reach at least one new soul this year. We do our part and God does His part.

Conclusion

As we embrace the new year, let us commit to sharing the soul-saving message of Jesus Christ. Whether through our actions, words or prayers, we can be His faithful servants. May the new year be a year of bold, love-motivated evangelism that draws others to the saving grace of God.
