Choose Wisely

Your relationship with God is exactly that — your relationship. That is, you are responsible for your own soul. This is not to say that you save yourself, but simply, the decision to be faithful to God or not is entirely yours. Where you spend eternity is going to be decided by what you choose in life. The faithfulness of your family and friends can only help you so much; it can only carry you so far. Ultimately, the faithfulness of others cannot and will not carry you all the way. The faithfulness of your Bible school teachers, youth ministers and preachers can carry you a long way and help you a great deal, but they, too, have their limits. Judas, Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:1-11), and Demas (2 Timothy 4:10) are all New Testament examples that show just how important it is to make good choices and to keep one’s priorities straight. Being in a covenant relationship with God is a choice that we must make daily (Luke 9:23). The way of the world and the way of the cross are set before us. Choose wisely. Choose life.
