Things I Can Do in the Name of the Lord

Children (and adults) need to consider more ways to serve the Lord. “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service” (Romans 12:1 NKJV).

  • How Can I Take Out the Trash for the Lord? Obey my parents (Colossians 3:20).
  • How Can I Eat Lunch for the Lord? Use my strength to serve Him (Mark 12:30).
  • How Can I Have a Friend for the Lord? That depends on the kinds of friends I have (Proverbs 13:20) and on what those friendships are based (2 Corinthians 5:16-17).
  • How Can Study in School for the Lord? I am commanded to obey the government, which includes compulsory education (Romans 13:12).
  • How Can I Go to Work for the Lord? I am commanded to provide for my family (1 Timothy 5:8), I am commanded to give to God (Ephesians 4:28), I am commanded to work if I am able (2 Thessalonians 3:10-12) and I’m actually working for Jesus (Colossians 3:22-24).
