I know that sometimes we get discouraged by what we read in the news, in posts online and even in brotherhood papers and ads. Anyone who calls himself or herself a Christian may very well be headed for persecution simply by holding to biblical principles. The attack is already on. It will likely get worse.
Within the body of Christ there is more and more of a push to denominationalize the church and to obscure and to obliterate the distinctive nature of the body for which Jesus died. Those who stand firmly for adherence to God’s Word and plan face attacks from outside and from inside the church. In the face of all this, listen to Jesus’ words to some of the seven churches of Asia (who faced those same types of problems that we do).
Do not fear any of those things which you are about to suffer. Indeed, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and you will have tribulation ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. (Revelation 2:10)
But hold fast what you have till I come. And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations. (Revelation 2:25-26)
He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. (Revelation 3:5)
Behold, I am coming quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown. (Revelation 3:11)
