Keeping Up Appearances

Proverbs 21:2 teaches that while we justify our actions by appearances, God cares about our motives. In this world, we see one another as how we seem to be. God sees us as we really are. He sees our hearts and knows our thoughts. His opinion should matter the most, and His opinion isn’t shaped by how good we are at keeping up our appearances. How much energy have you spent this week keeping up your appearances to your friends and neighbors or even before your fellow Christians? Even if everyone believes that you really do have it all worked out, how does that make your life better? Today, will you commit to pleasing God above all and not focusing so much on appearances? What does that look like for you?
