Dedication to
Ernest S. Underwood

Ernest S. Underwood and his wife, Shirley, at this writing reside in DeFuniak Springs, Florida, where he serves the College Avenue church of Christ as its minister and as one of its elders. Nothing more as concisely portrays brother Underwood than his stated life’s purpose “to preach the Gospel of Christ and teach His Word until claimed in death.” Consequently, Ernest Underwood’s life has been and continues to be populated with good works.

As an evangelist, brother Underwood has served the cause of Christ long term stateside in Tennessee, Florida, Texas, Alabama, Oklahoma and Arizona as well as overseas in Singapore and Russia. Gospel meeting and campaign work has taken brother Ernest to 22 states and to Bermuda, the West Indies, Ghana,   West   Africa,    Taiwan,    Malaysia, Thailand and India. Shirley and Ernest will spend three months this year (2008) in Shillong, India, working with a Bible school there underwritten financially by the College Avenue church of Christ.

Over the years, Ernest Underwood has conducted daily radio and weekly television programs. He has been an avid writer of religious articles and author of several books. Brother Underwood has taught in the Florida School of Preaching, the Owassa (Oklahoma) School of Biblical Studies, Four Seas College of Bible and Missions (Singapore) and a school of preaching in Shillong, India. Ernest Underwood has taught also in state prisons in Tennessee and Florida as well as in a juvenile detention center in Arizona.

As a team in service to God, Shirley and Ernest Underwood are tools in the hands of God, tools that bear no rust due to constant and purposeful use for the Master. It is a pleasure to dedicate this issue of Gospel Gazette Online to brother Ernest S. Underwood, and to highlight several of his articles this month. The brevity of many of them make them ideal for use in church bulletins. Shirley and Ernest Underwood are suitable examples for imitation (1 Corinthians 11:1).
