The twelfth chapter of Isaiah is about the Christ and the salvation He would bring. In verse four, we read, “And in that day shall ye say, Praise the Lord, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.”
When Christ had brought His salvation, people would be overjoyed. They would be thrilled to draw out of his spiritual wells. They would praise God continually, and they would declare Him among the people.
The word here for “declare” can be translated several different ways. It primarily means to know. To know His doings among the people would be to make known to all people what He had done. That would require teaching and preaching. Therefore, the disciple of Christ will tell other people about Him. They will not sit silent and never let others know about Him.
Unfortunately, many professed Christians never declare Christ among people. One reason they do not do this is that they do not know His Word, the Bible. They do not draw water out of the wells of salvation and therefore cannot share the water. They find no joy in studying His Word. Since they do not like to study, they also do not like to tell others about Him. They cannot tell others about His doings because they do not know themselves.
Make sure you study your Bible. Learn all you can from it. Then, joyfully tell others about it. Declare Christ’s doings among the people, and if any of this is hard to understand, ask an adult to help you.
