Humility is not an easy thing to have. It is not always easy putting yourself second to other people. Pride is not a good thing in the Bible. God does not want any of us to have pride. Pride makes one think of himself as better than another person. Humility means not thinking too highly of oneself.
It would be easy for God to have pride. He created the universe. He upholds all things with his Word. He is all-powerful and all-knowing.
But God is full of love. He wants the best for man. He looks down on man and desires to help man. “Who is like unto the Lord our God, who dwelleth on high. Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth” (Psalm 113:5-6).
He loves man so much he is even willing to serve man. “For he shall stand at the right hand of the poor, to save him from those that condemn his soul” (Psalm 109:31). By picturing himself standing on our right hand, he is showing that he is ready for action on our behalf. He is willing to save us. He will be there when we need him.
What a wonderful God he is. Even though he is over all creation, he is willing to humble himself and be interested in our lives.
Read your Bible. Study it. Learn to be humble like our God.
