What’s It Called?

Have you heard about the Bible class teacher who was asking her young students if they knew what it was called when a man is married to several wives at the same time? “Polygamy,” the class responded. The teacher, impressed by their answer, then asked what it was called when a man was married to two wives at the same time. “Bigamy,” the class responded. The teacher, now even more impressed, decided to ask one more question. “What is it called when a man is married to one wife?” After a long period of silence, a little boy, sounding very sure of himself said, “Monotony!”

Marriage was intended by God, not to be monotonous, but to be monogamous. Today, infidelity abounds in our society. Broken vows, broken promises, broken marriages and broken hearts litter our courts. Don’t become a statistic. Find joy in the Lord’s plan for the home. His way really is best (Matthew 19:1-9).
